MedTech Mitra isn’t just a platform, it’s an ecosystem and community that is driving transformative change, said the Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare.

He also added, “To completely transform the way healthcare is delivered in our country, we need to harness the power of indigenous technologies that are precise and affordable”.

So, this initiative seeks to bring together different players in the field of medical technology to strengthen collaboration and drive innovation in the health industry.

India’s Hostilic Approach and Vision for Future

India’s healthcare sector is largely dependent on the medical devices sector.

However, pursuing the vision of Viksit Bharat, India is taking a holistic approach to health and transforming the country’s health landscape by 2047.

Despite the sector’s 80% import dependence, the Union Health Minister highlighted the substantial progress made through production-linked incentive schemes, investments in medical drug parks, and the implementation of MedTech research policies.

In addition to reducing reliance on imports, MedTech Mitra’s collaborative approach will lead the nation to develop affordable and high-quality medical devices on its own.

By 2030, Dr Mandaviya expects the MedTech sector in India to reach $50 billion in revenue.

Technology advancements such as Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, Virtual Reality, and Nanotechnology have driven a rapid transformation in India.

He emphasized the necessity of proactive support at the approval stage to achieve India’s self-sufficiency vision.
