The Ministry of Steel, Government of India, takes proactive measures to ensure the nation’s safety and quality standards through the issuance of Quality Control Orders (QCOs) under the Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) framework. These orders regulate a variety of goods, whether imported or locally manufactured, with the overarching goal of fostering a secure and quality-centric environment nationwide.

In line with this commitment, a recent QCO has been enacted to oversee the “Specification for Steel Wire: (Up to 20 mm) for the manufacture of cold-forged rivets” falling under the mandatory BIS-ISI Mark certification scheme (Scheme-I of Schedule-II). Compliance with this certification is essential, as failure to obtain a valid license by the specified deadline will prohibit importing, manufacturing, or selling these goods in the Indian market.

Certification plays a pivotal role in ensuring products meet specific quality and safety standards mandated by the government. Its implementation aims to safeguard consumers, promote standardization, uphold public health and safety, facilitate international trade, and drive economic development. To achieve BIS certification, products must fully comply with all parameters outlined in the corresponding Indian Standard.
