In recent times, spam calls and messages have posed a persistent challenge for mobile users, despite the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) making numerous efforts to tackle this issue. Despite their efforts, spam communication remains a major concern for consumers.
Recently, TRAI has taken proactive measures by instructing businesses and enterprises to obtain fresh and explicit consent from telecom consumers through digital channels before sending any commercial or marketing messages.
With the introduction of Digital Consent Acquisition (DCA) earlier this year, prior consents obtained through other methods will no longer be considered valid. All Principal Entities are now mandated to secure new consents exclusively through digital means.
In the ever-changing landscape of mobile communications, TRAI’s implementation of the Digital Consent Acquisition (DCA) is a promising step in addressing the problem of spam calls and messages, aiming to make mobile communications safer and more secure for users in India.
