
MEITY Issues New Compliance Update for CCTV Cameras in India
MEITY has released a notification dated 12th March 2025 that “ER-01 compliance is not required for Analogue CCTV camera. Furthermore, the BIS has issued a notification dated 1 April 2025, providing clarity on the procedure to be followed by applicants for ER-01 compliance regarding CCTV cameras. The latest guideline of BIS is as follows-
For Analogue CCTV Camera applicants
- Existing Manufacturers shall submit a declaration through the “Standard Revision/ Amendment/ Essential Requirement” module to avail of this non-applicability of ER-01.
- All CCTV Cameras as per IS 13252-1 henceforth shall indicate in the general product description for all models that CCTV Cameras are of the Analogue type.
For Other CCTV Camera applicants
- Applicable standard- IS 13252-a (Safety Testing) and ER-01 (security testing), so applicants need to comply with both standards before the deadline.
- After 09th April, non-compliant models will be deleted by BIS from the scope of the license.
Note: Applicants are advised not to combine both types of CCTV cameras in a single Application/Inclusion ID.
