The BEE department has introduced significant changes in the Chillers product category which are outlined below:

1. Starting from 1st January 2024, Water-cooled and Air-cooled chillers are included in the mandatory certification regime.

This means that BEE S&L certification and the star label are compulsory before launching these products in India. The mandatory tenure extends from 1st January 2024 to 31st December 2025.

2. Manufacturers must now apply for the model continuation process to keep their registered Chillers operational.

The updated label period is from 1st January 2024 to 31st December 2025, and the link for continuation/changeover is active until 31st December 2023.

3. Chillers with updated label periods shall not be distributed at retail outlets before 1st January 2024. The official has begun approving the applications by the new table.

4. The BEE certification covers Water-cooled and Air-cooled chillers that operate using a vapour compression cycle for central cooling and similar applications.

It includes all types and sizes with capacities for rated voltage up to and including 250 V, 50 Hz AC for single-phase, and up to and including 11kV, 50Hz AC for three-phase power supply.
