Under the BIS Scheme X – Omnibus Technical Regulation, it will soon become mandatory to obtain BIS certification for a wide range of machinery and their parts. This move aims to streamline quality standards and ensure safe, compliant products across the Indian market.

Scope Of Regulation:

This regulation applies to all types of machinery used in construction, earthmoving, and mining, along with their assemblies, sub-assemblies and components.

It includes (but is not limited to):

  • Excavators
  • Bulldozers
  • Backhoe Loaders
  • Drilling Rigs
  • Rock Crushers
  • Tunnel Boring Machines

If your equipment falls under any of the following HSN codes, this regulation directly affects you:

  • 843141

Compliance Deadline:

1st September 2026

Note On Exemption:

This regulation does not apply to machinery or equipment already covered under other existing Quality Control Orders (QCOs) issued by BIS. However, if your product isn’t covered elsewhere, this OTR regulation is applicable.
