On Day 7 of our 30 Days, 30 Insights on BIS Scheme X, we’re turning our attention to an important category—semiconductor controllers and contactors for non-motor loads.

Covered under IS/IEC 60947: Part 4: Section 3: 2020, this standard applies to products used for precise switching and control in systems that don’t involve motors—think lighting systems, industrial heating setups, and process controls. These devices may not be in motion, but they’re critical to performance and safety.

Here’s what’s included under this standard:

  • Semiconductor controllers for non-motor loads
  • Semiconductor contactors for non-motor loads
  • Applicable to all product ratings, both AC and DC

The compliance deadline is 10th November 2025, which is approaching fast. Since BIS certification involves testing, documentation, and approvals, the smart move is to start early.

If your business manufactures or imports these products for the Indian market, Scheme X certification is non-negotiable. It’s not just about staying compliant—it’s about showing your commitment to safety, quality, and reliability.
