Today, we’re highlighting the IS/IEC 60947: Part 3: 2012 standard, which will soon require mandatory compliance under BIS Scheme X certification.

This standard applies to low-voltage switchgear and control gear, specifically switches, disconnectors, switch disconnectors, and fuse-combination units used across both AC and DC utilisation categories.

These components play a critical role in safe isolation, load switching, and protection within electrical systems, from industrial machinery to commercial control panels. Given their importance, ensuring their performance and safety through certification is essential for maintaining both regulatory standards and operational reliability.

The compliance deadline is set for 10th November 2025, and it’s approaching fast. Manufacturers and importers must begin aligning with Scheme X requirements to avoid delays or disruptions in market access.
