BIS Extends Deadline for Electrical Equipment QCO 2024

The Ministry of Heavy Industries has announced an extension to the implementation timeline under the Electrical Equipment (Quality Control) Second Amendment Order, 2024. Originally scheduled for May 10, 2025, the new effective date is now November 10, 2025, offering the industry an additional six months for compliance readiness. 

Products Covered under BIS Scheme-X (Low-Voltage Switchgear & Controlgear): 

  • IS/IEC 60947-2:2016 – AC Circuit Breakers
    • Category A: >630A, up to 440V AC
    • Category B: ≤2000A, up to 440V AC
  • IS/IEC 60947-3:2020 – Switches, disconnectors, etc. (Up to 250A, up to 440V AC) 
  • IS/IEC 60947-4-1:2018 – Contactors (AC utilization up to 32A) 
  • IS/IEC 60947-4-2:2020 – All product ratings 
  • IS/IEC 60947-4-3:2020 – All product ratings 
  • IS/IEC 60947-5-1:2016 – Control Circuit Devices (AC utilisation up to 440V AC) 
  • IS/IEC 60947-5-2:2019 – All product ratings 
  • IS/IEC 60947-5-5:2016 – Pushbutton-type actuator devices
