Scope of Regulation:

This requirement applies to a wide range of embroidery machines, including:

  • Single-head embroidery machines
  • Multi-head embroidery machines
  • Computerised embroidery machines
  • Schiffli embroidery machines
  • Free-motion embroidery machines
  • Laser embroidery machines

Applicable HSN Codes:

  • 84479020

Compliance Deadline:

1st September 2026 – All embroidery machinery covered under this regulation must be BIS certified by this date to be legally sold, imported, or manufactured in India

Important Note:

This order does not apply to machinery or electrical equipment already covered under other BIS Quality Control (QC) Orders.
If you are a manufacturer or importer of embroidery machinery, this is the time to plan ahead. BIS certification involves documentation, testing, and approvals — starting early will help you avoid bottlenecks and ensure uninterrupted business operations.
