The pipe and fittings are intended for non-pressure applications, normally as gravity drainage systems.

End-use application	Hubless centrifugally cast (spun) iron pipes, fittings, and accessories in the spigot series are commonly employed in various plumbing and drainage systems. Their primary uses include wastewater conveyance, drainage systems, stormwater management, and underground utility installations in residential, commercial, and industrial applications.

The Ministry of Commerce & Industry, specifically the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Government of India, regularly issues Quality Control Orders (QCOs) under the aspect of Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) to regulate various types of goods imported into or manufactured locally within the country. The objective is to foster a safe and quality-centric environment nationwide.   

In line with this objective, a recent QCO has been issued to regulate “Hubless centrifugally cast (spun) iron pipes, fittings and accessories – Spigot series”. This product falls under the mandatory BIS-ISI Mark certification scheme (Scheme-I of Schedule II), making it imperative for manufacturers and importers to obtain a valid license by a specified deadline. Failure to comply will lead to the prohibition of importing, manufacturing or selling these goods in the Indian market.
