BIS Certification Must for Circuit Breakers Under Scheme X
Highlighting IS/IEC 60947: Part 2: 2016, a critical standard under BIS Scheme X that governs low-voltage switchgear and control gear, specifically focusing on circuit breakers.
This standard is essential for ensuring the safety and reliability of electrical systems, as it applies to a wide range of low-voltage circuit breakers designed to protect against faults and overloads.
The products covered under this standard include:
- Single-Pole Circuit Breakers (≤ 1000 V a.c. or ≤ 1500 V d.c.)
- Integrally Fused Circuit-Breakers
- High-voltage a.c. Circuit Breakers (1000 V to 1500 V a.c.)
- Earth Leakage Circuit-Breakers
- Electronic Over-Current Protection Circuit-Breakers
- IT System Circuit-Breakers
- Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Circuit-Breakers
- Non-Overcurrent Protection Circuit-Breakers
- Breaker Auxiliaries with EMC Consideration
- D.C. Circuit-Breakers for Photovoltaic (PV) Systems, etc.
This standard has been mandatory since 10th November 2024, so any product falling under this category must already be BIS-certified to continue
manufacturing, importing, or selling legally in India.
